The 77thAnnual Fall Meeting of the Korean Society of Pathologists
In August 1948, the Korean Society of Pathologists (KSP) was established in succession to the Chosun Society of Pathologists, which was initiated in October 1946. The first academic conference was held in May 1947 as a part of the annual congress organized by the Chosun Medical Association. The KSP held its first monthly slide conference in 1959 and introduced a pathologist board system in 1963. The Journal of the KSP was founded in 1967 and operates as the Journal of Pathology and Translational Medicine. The first spring annual meeting of the KSP was held in 1976, the 76th autumn annual meeting, and the first international congress of KSP in 2024. Externally, KSP joined the International Academy of Pathology (IAP) in 1981, has been working as a Korean Division of IAP, and held the 8th Asia Pacific International Academy of Pathology conference in 2013. As of 2023, the KSP has 1,200 members, is actively working in Korea, and continues to grow through continuous overseas exchanges. Through this international congress (KSP 2024), we hope to have an opportunity to leap forward once again.
The purpose of KSP is to develop innovative technologies in the fields of surgical pathology, cytopathology, immunopathology, molecular pathology, cytogenetics, and forensic pathology; to lead the medical education and research, counseling for the national health system and public welfare, with performing academic leadership roles; and to enable a multidisciplinary approach to quality assurance, scholarly communication, publishing, and international collaboration.
The KSP is guided by solid values and high ethical standards in pursuit of leading pathology and future medicine, improving healthcare, and will be the pioneer in conquering diseases.
